"I am passionate about helping athletes and coaches achieve their training goals through developing their understanding about mental training and principles of growth and maturation. This involves assessing, and tracking data-based information for athlete/sport selection and training decisions.
Of the coaches that even think to provide tangible feedback after evaluations or throughout training, it is often too generic, lacking data to enhance training decisions or help athletes with future training goals.
I seek opportunities to help coaches, athletes and parents apply principles of measurement and evaluation to better direct training decisions in areas of sport and position selection, physical training intensity and most importantly mental training. Many athletes, coaches and parents have heard of mental toughness but may not be familiar of its components, assessment or relevance to physical training areas.
Through my 22 years of university teaching and research experience I can help break down concepts like mental toughness components so they can be integrated with performance outcomes like confidence, and enhanced physical, technical and tactical skills through tangible training assessment, feedback and targets.
I am also educated to help coaches assess, interpret and construct athlete and position specific data based information to inform their selection and training decisions. This can also be helpful to parents who are helping their athletes apply coaches' feedback to direct training targets or make sport related decisions."
